Filming Diary 2
22nd November 2013
Here is the filming diary of the final part of our filming in our boxing location. Today,we completed the sparring shots as well as taking more shots of Aran training in the gym. We decided against using the Leatherhead Leisure Centre gym due to the boxing location having a suitable gym upstairs.
Here is the introduction of our filming diary in the boxing location. As you can see. there is a gym upstairs which we have taken advantage of and this means that we don't need to film at the other gym that we were planning.
The video above shows how Muhammed was talking through to the actors of what he wanted to see. Thanks to the storyboard, Muhammed had much more of a clear indication of what he expects from each shot. Despite this, he still decided to film at different angles in order to see whether there is another angle that is effective. We decided that we will aim to take as many shots as possible in order to help us during the editing stage but also, we can take screenshots which we may use as the poster or magazine front cover.
The final part of this post is the final shot that we were planning on taking in this location. Muhammed is just instruccting everyone on where they should be but also talked to the cast about little things such as foot movement and positioning which will make a huge difference come the editing stage.
Actors Interviews.
Here are our character interviews. We took these videos during our filming at our boxing location. We have just stated very briefly our role in the trailer.
Here is Aran, our main character .
Here is Muhammed, he is the personal trainer for Aran.
Here is damian who is Arans spar partner.

Production Timeline
Monday 21st October:
Started acquiring our locations. Thanks to our location research, we already knew what locations we needed. I started our conversation with the owner of Ultimate Fitness Boxing and also got some details of the running track.
Tuesday 22nd October:
Muhammad and Aran have been going to our other location which is Leatherhead leisure a during different times of the day to see when it's most quietest for us to do our filming. Both Muhammad and Aran have memberships so it's in effect free to film there but we don't want to go at a time that it's busy. So far, I feel that we have started well with our locations and we are currently ahead of schedule but there is still a lot to do.
Wednesday 23rd October:
I have spoken to the running track and they told me that it's £5 per person and we have received their consent to film there. We have arranged to attend this location on the 29th of November as this is the only day that is available. This has slightly slowed down our progress and means that we must either extend our deadline or film this right at the end so it doesn't affect our plans. Our time management has helped us overcome these problems as we have made our time lengths quite wide if we had faced any problems.
Friday 25th October:
Just completed our storyboard. Now need to turn it into an animatic. We will take the pictures on Mohammed's phone and later upload it onto power point in order for it to turn into an animatic. We are relieved that the storyboard is done as it gives us an idea of what, how and where we are going to film and do it as time efficiently as possible.
Monday 28th October:
Recruited our extras for filming within the coming weeks. We have enlisted the help of 4 other extras and have agreed with them the dates that we are planning to film.
Tuesday 29th October:
Had a follow up conversation with Mark regarding our first piece of filming which should start on the 5th November. So far we are meeting our targets and thus we should complete filming by the end of November.
7th November:
Just spoke to Mark, after a delay, we shall start filming on the 12th. This doesn't affect us too badly as we have allotted a lot of time into this filming process and still have a couple of weeks to film in our other locations.
12th November:
Started our filming in our boxing location. We have completed half of the filming and must return to this location one more time.
15th November:
Arranged with mark to complete our filming in in the boxing ring on the 22nd November. This time we shall bring our extras as well and have already got a conformation from then so we are prepared. We have started our editing of the previous piece of filming that we had done a few days ago. This is just to get used to the software.
22nd November:
Finished our filming in the boxing location with the help from our extras. Also, there was a gym upstairs that we used as an additional location in order to get as many shots as possible to choose from during our editing process.
25th November:
Resumed our editing from the previous location and started to piece shots together. Also arranged what will potentially be our final bit of filming on the 29th November. This means that we still following our planned targets but we are also ahead of schedule thanks to the editing in between filming. I believe that we have completed half of our editing already and so we should finish our editing and the trailer should be ready by our deadline of the 20th December.
29th November:
Finished our final bit of filming in Wimbledon. I drove us down there and we got a wide range of hots from different locations including a running track and a river. We also done our dialogue shots here. We have finished filming on time and now we can fully focus on our filming for the next couple of weeks.
2nd December:
Just completed a first drft on windows movie maker of our trailer. Muhammed is an expert with this software and mad it look as if we were editing using a better software. We did have IMovie as a contingency and still may use it if we aren't satisfied with the results of movie maker.
